Dumbbells and Discipleship is a place of faith, transformation, progress, and vulnerability in a world that often tells men we have to keep everything inside, figure it all out on our own, and never ask for help.
I joined because I wanted to build friendships with other godly men. I was looking for a place where I could be honest about the struggles I was facing in life and in my faith without being judged when I fell short. I wanted men who would encourage me to keep going, pray with me, and hold me accountable to the things I said I wanted to accomplish. In a lot of ways, I felt alone, and I knew I wasn't meant to do life that way.
When I joined, I was hoping to grow closer to God, learn His Word, strengthen my faith, and honor Him through the way I take care of my body. What I've received has been so much more than I expected.
The men in this group have shared their struggles and their victories, prayed for me and for one another, encouraged me when I needed it, and challenged me to keep growing. I've gained genuine friendships, grown more intimate with Jesus, and, with the help and accountability of these men, developed a level of discipline that I didn't have before.
More than anything, these men make me want to be a better man for my family, for myself, and for God. They've reminded me that strength isn't about pretending you have it all together. Sometimes strength looks like being vulnerable, asking for help, showing up when you don't feel like it, and allowing other men to walk alongside you.
I'm incredibly grateful and blessed to be part of Dumbbells and Discipleship. Come as you are. We're all different in so many ways, but the care, encouragement, accountability, and brotherhood these men show one another is something truly special. It's a place where you can grow stronger in your body, your discipline, your relationships, and most importantly, your walk with God.
D&D means so much to me. When I think about D&D, it's a place where men can gather to strengthen their faith with one another, go deep in the Word, but most importantly grow and be challenged — both spiritually and physically.
I joined D&D to surround myself with strong men of God to help hold myself accountable, deepen my relationship with God and my church community. I also wanted to push my body in a way I haven't in years.
I received so much more than I could have hoped for from joining D&D. First and foremost, I've been able to reconnect with God through the Word in such a deep way that I've struggled to do and maintain previously. Secondly, I have a group of wonderful, powerful men of God who I'm fortunate enough to lean on and not just call friends, but actually family. Through all of this, it's been an answered prayer to have such deep connection that I would have never thought possible prior to joining. Lastly, the workouts we do honestly help transform my body — I feel in some of the best shape of my life — and have also helped remind myself that I'm capable of doing hard things.
Dumbbells and Discipleship has been such a blessing in my life. From the first week I was impacted and truly shown how much God is moving in this group.
The conversation and scripture part is amazing — it always finds a way to hit home. I never feel isolated or unheard, but connected, moved, and challenged. Every week brings new spiritual and physical growth.
And the workout is another highlight. Tré always puts together a perfectly difficult — yet rewarding — plan that pushes the group and bonds us together in the pursuit of healthy living and physical excellence.
Life change. I've never been in a group like this, and I look forward to every Saturday for more.
